Studium Generale: A peek into the soul of Japan

On the 26th of March 2013, the participants visited a lecture of professor R.T. Segers. He explained how the tsunami and the explosion of the nuclear reactor in Fukushima exposed the soul of Japan to the world. It became clear to us that the people in Japan are very resilient and are at their strongest in time of disaster. The Japanese put their own lives on hold to help the affected people in the disaster area. Moreover, Japan is going to rebuilt the devastated area without the help of any other country.

He also discussed how Japan is able to acquire Western influences while staying true to its own culture. The country underwent several revolutions and all these revolutions strengthened the position of Japan in the world. He explained how we can learn from Japan in the Netherlands.
During the discussion professor R.T. Segers shared his experiences in Japan and recommended the main cities we should definitely visit as Electrical Engineers. We absolutely enjoyed the lecture and the small talks afterwards!
